چکیده

Kwong and Cheng’ recently reported a case of chronic neutrophilic leukemia (CNL) with absence of Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome and no bcr rearrangement. They showed the clonal nature of CNL by the methylation status of the X-linked hypoxanthine phosphoribosyl transferase. (HPRT) gene. The clonal myeloproliferative nature of CNL was first documented in our report of a case of polycythemia vera (PV) terminating in CNL.’ Similar associations have been published since then,’s4 confirming a clinical connection between CNL and the well-recognized clonal myeloproliferative disorder, PV. The lack of bcr rearrangement in CNL was first demonstrated by well before the case referred to by Kwong and Cheng,’ thus confirming that CNL, which can be mistaken for Ph-negative chronic myeloid leukemia, is a different myeloproliferative disorder.

Clonality of chronic neutrophilic leukaemia associated with myeloma: analysis using the X-linked probe M27 beta.

AIMS To determine whether myeloid proliferation was monoclonal or polyclonal in a woman with chronic neutrophilic leukaemia and myeloma. METHODS The X-linked probe, M27 beta was used to determine the clonality of the neutrophil population by analysis of restriction fragment length polymorphisms and X inactivation pattern. RESULTS A polyclonal pattern of X inactivation was obtained for the n...

Evidence of clonality in chronic neutrophilic leukaemia.

BACKGROUND Chronic neutrophilic leukaemia (CNL) is a rare myeloproliferative disorder of elderly patients characterised by sustained neutrophilia and splenomegaly. The diagnosis of CNL requires the exclusion of BCR/ABL positive chronic myelogenous leukaemia (CML) and of leukaemoid reactions (LRs). The differentiation between CNL and LR is problematic because both conditions share similar morpho...

Specific molecular mutation patterns delineate chronic neutrophilic leukemia, atypical chronic myeloid leukemia, and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia.

Chronic neutrophilic leukemia (CNL) and atypical chronic myeloid leukemia (aCML) are rare entities grouped into the World Health Organisation (WHO) categories myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN and MDS/MPN overlap), respectively. According to the WHO 2008 classification, both entities are characterized by leukocytosis and a hypercellular bone marrow, predom...

Molecular genetics of chronic neutrophilic leukemia, chronic myelomonocytic leukemia and atypical chronic myeloid leukemia

According to the 2008 World Health Organization classification, chronic neutrophilic leukemia, chronic myelomonocytic leukemia and atypical chronic myeloid leukemia are rare diseases. The remarkable progress in our understanding of the molecular genetics of myeloproliferative neoplasms and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms has made it clear that there are some specific genetic abnorm...
